Contoh Latar Belakang Masalah/ Background Penelitian Writing Skill Dalam Skripsi Bahasa Inggris

Mahasiswa terakhir/ tinggkat akhir adalah mahasiswa yang sedang sibuk-sibuknya, sedang pusing-pusingnya, dst. hehe betul tidak? Baiklah dibawah ini saya akan share mengenai sebuah contoh latar belakang masalah penelitian di dalam skripsi bahasa Inggris. Researcer mengambil topik tentang ''meningkatkan writing skill (kemampuan menulis) menggunakan ''Students Team Achievement Division'' (STAD)

Background of Choosing the Topic

Teaching English for students of Junior High School has been conducted for many years but it hasn’t generated significant result. English has been regarded as one of the difficult subject between other courses in the views of both teacher and students. Many teachers failed in teaching English in EFL classroom because of any factors hampered the whole process of instructional design and learning, such as almost teacher are lacking of knowledge about pedagogical principle and the principles of teaching EFL in classroom context. To some extent, teachers have weakness related to the way of their teaching in EFL classroom setting. Some of the teachers used to utilize inapplicable method or inappropriate techniques of teaching that effect insignificant result in acquiring the target language. 

Apparently that the failure of the students acquiring the target language is virtually concerned with the teacher themselves mainly it is about the way of teaching language using in appropriate approach and in applicable methods. Therefore, to accomplish the success of teaching writing, teacher should have good knowledge deals with mastery of knowledge of EFL principles and appropriate technique of language teaching which are attracting to the students in the English Foreign Language classroom. 

Based on preliminary observation, there are many students have low result about English, especially in writing. It revealed from the result of English test achievement still low. There are many students have low result of English test achievement when compared with Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) or Minimum Mastery Criteria. The KKM of English in second year of SMP Islam Al-Qonaah is 72; but some of students’ still get result lower than 72. 

On the other hand, students should be given opportunities to develop their language skills with specific emphasize on writing. 

The necessity of learning writing more frequently is inevitably indispensable both inside and outside the class to make the learners become more familiar and knowledgeable. More learners learn writing is better for them to understand any English literary books. As one of skills, writing plays an important part in developing students’ competence especially in comprehending any English text. 

Again, to acquire this language skill teacher should encourage their students to do a lot of exposure or practice both inside and outside the classroom. Teacher should remember that students have poor knowledge and they substantially have undergone a part of learning process of acquiring a language outside EFL classroom setting. They also have various individuals’ strategies in learning English based on their learning styles. In short, students have undertaken the process of learning English based on their previous learning. 

The teacher has not a good technique to increase the students writing skill, so in teaching and learning activity should be used technique, media and others component. So that, to release it the writer choose one of the technique teaching from Cooperative Learning that is Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) 

The raise of STAD is based on the assumption that learning language could be more essentially effective through utilizing cooperative learning. It enables students to learn more enthusiastically and comfortably beside they can learn cooperatively beyond strict control of the teachers. Furthermore, STAD will enable student to share each other based on the necessity of a particular subject matter. STAD also can prompt students confident and self-efficacy because sometimes they feel inhibited when they learn individually. In short, STAD offers the way of learning more colorful and significant by which students can pull out their potentiality and explore their own cognitive sense in acquiring the target language. 

Based on notion above, it should be a particular technique of teaching to facilitate students’ learning, that is, STAD to gain the effective learning. This technique should be maximized by the teachers in the whole of process of instruction and learning. Furthermore, by using STAD it hopes that students’ achievement will be better, and it can make a motivation for student to study more active. Thus, the writer is interested in researching the use of STAD for improving students’ writing skill. The writer conducted the research at the second grade the junior high school student of SMP Islam Al Qonaah . Because after the writer observation in this school, that English lesson is still low, especially in writing.
